So glad that Stephan and I agree on this point. We recently had a long talk about it, and both feel that a mother should be a mother, not a career woman who tosses her kids the scraps of her time.

Not to say that women can’t work. Even women with kids. I look forward to working as an herbalist/Reiki practitioner, but once there are kids involved, we have agreed that I will work from home, and/or part time. Once the kids are in school, work can take more of my time, but I still want to be home when my little people get off the bus.

These are my feelings, and my opinions. Well, mine and my husbands. You can do whatever you want, think whatever you want. Can’t promise that I will agree with you, but you’re entitled to your beliefs and priorities.

So, Stephan has been gone most of the last few months. Not gone as in away from Groton. Just gone as in not home. But as of yesterday, he is out at sea. He will be home soon. Just doing some testing nonsense. We are preparing to make the 817 mile trip, which according to Google Maps will take us about 13 hours, home to Asheville. I am not a big fan of long car trips. Since I have gotten Fibro, sitting for that long makes my back and knees hurt, and with my ADHD, just having to sit in one place for that  long  is nearly impossible! But it will all be worth it. 6 days (well, 4 full days, but hush you!) with  our families. It will be a bit stressful, trying to balance time with his family and mine, and my birth mom as well (perhaps?), but a stress worth dealing with ^_^

I have been shopping and making and packing and preparing, and it’s all wonderfully overwhelming!  But I have to tell you, with no  husband around, and no snow (Yes… the snow is important), it really hasn’t felt much like Christmas. That’s one reason I’m so excited about going home. It always feels like Christmas at my parents house. Even in the middle of summer.

I have been pretty involved in my church, Seaport Community. And Queenie has been going to their Wednesday night girls jr high group, the Friends Club. She loves it! I take her every week. It’s a lot of trips down to New  London, but she’s worth it. She has a lock-in tonight, which is a sleep over with the Friends Club at the church. So I’m taking her there and picking her up in the morning. I have to pick her up a few minutes early tho because I have a 0915 appt to donate blood. I will miss temple in the  morning, but I am going tonight.

School is going well. Lots of reading, but I love it. Well, most of it. There are, of course, those bits and pieces which make me want to slam my head inside the book. But they are few and far between.

I need a day. Just… a day to myself. I can’t remember the last day that I had where I didn’t have to be anywhere, or do anything. No obligations. Just a day to rest and collect myself. Today, until 530, I sort of have that, but it’s full of packing and cleaning and school (and blogging, hehe). I guess Tuesday, as we start the drive home, I will kind of get that. Not really restful, but I definitely won’t have much to do!

I got some tinctures from GNC or whatever it’s called. Valerain and Passion Flower. They are for sleep/rest usually, but for me, they are for anxiety. I did a bunch of research on herbal remedies for anxiety, and those two popped up the most, with the least sedative effects. I still need to be able to function, you know. I took the first dose about 2  hours ago, and I’m feeling pretty chill. It’s nice.
